Lutherstraße, Jena

photo01

The house I lived in at this time was on Lutherstrasse, and all these photographs were taken between March and June 2002. The rent was negligible, the flatmates great. We were thrown out when the local government sold off the house to be renovated. A couple of years later, in 2004, Alina and I moved into a flat elsewhere in town which I was thrilled to discover was build to an almost identical plan as the one in Lutherstrasse. True, the toilet isn’t downstairs off the landing, there isn’t a shower in the kitchen, and what is now our bathroom was another bedroom in Lutherstrasse; but the new flat had a familiar, homely feeling to me from the moment we moved in…

Eschwege, Germany

Visited here a couple of times as an examiner for the LCCI. Didn’t take too many photographs, as you can see, but it’s a very pleasant town.
